While VisionTrust International is making a difference in impoverished children's lives by providing education, food, healthcare and homes for them, Grace Service Teams give you the opportunity to participate in what God is doing around the world. Help build a school or home, facilitate a Vacation Bible School for children, evangelize in a community, or work on teams committed to health promotion... the opportunities are endless!

We currently have several types of Grace Service Teams:

• Labor: Construction, painting, and maintenance of a school, orphanage or learning center.
• Evangelism: Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) or ministries designed for children, discipleship training and street evangelism.
• Child Health: Dental and health care teams committed to health promotion and disease prevention in partnership with local health care providers.
• Camps: Sports clinics and camps.
• Combination: A blending of the above team types to incorporate your talents and gifts.

Ten million children die each year, most from preventable diseases and almost all in developing countries. VisionTrust serves in areas of the world with children at the greatest risk. Based upon this risk, VisionTrust has developed a comprehensive health strategy to assure that children have adequate nutrition to fight disease and develop properly, immunizations to prevent infectious diseases, ongoing health screenings to target and monitor children at the greatest risk, and an integrated management of childhood illness to facilitate the ongoing management of children with specific health issues.

Child Health Teams provide an important addition to VisionTrust International’s partnerships with local health care providers at each of our projects. Through these local partnerships our children our monitored for critical indicators of their health and well-being such as growth and development, oral health, and vision.

God has provided you as a health care provider with special gifts and talents. We would encourage you to consider serving on one of our Child Health Teams to support and supplement the local teachers, health care providers, and communities who provide ongoing care to our children. We need your skills to complete the task by serving on such projects as:

• Well child screenings to track our children’s development using our assessment form based on World Health Organization guidelines.
  
• Targeted health interventions in partnership with local healthcare providers based upon our ongoing tracking of the children’s health issues.
  
• Working with community health workers to provide support and education to health challenges specific to the region.

Additionally, if your team would like to contribute medical supplies or pharmaceuticals we would request ONLY the following items (recognizing that our sites have limited storage, none of our sites have health care providers on site, and teachers who may dispense limited medications do not speak English):

• Vitamins with and without iron for our over 1,000 children that need a daily vitamin.
  
• First aid supplies such as Band-Aids, peroxide, cotton balls, cotton swabs, and antibiotic ointment (such as Neosporin in individual packets).
  
• Small amounts of Children’s Tylenol and Children’s Ibuprofen.
  
• Selected other items at the request of the Director of Child Health Services based upon current needs (such as scabies infiltrations, etc.)
